Teresa Marshall of Insure It Forward of Oklahoma City

Introducing Teresa Marshall

I came to Oklahoma with my 7 year old son in 1995.  We had been in Los Angeles and I knew it was not a place I wanted to raise a child.  In 1997 I met the man of my dreams and we were married in 1998.  The three of us have lived in Stillwater ever since.  “Go Pokes”

I’ve had several careers but some of the most rewarding are the care giver positions I’ve had working with the elderly and special needs individuals.

I believe people are truly happiest when they are serving and making a difference in the lives of others. I still work with individuals and volunteer with Oklahoma Hospice.  When looking for a home church in Stillwater, I found the Salvation Army through one of my son’s friend’s mom. We had been driving 2 hours each way to our family church in Holdenville and one day after a sleepover I had to pick my son up at 7 so we could get to church.  She invited me to her church The Salvation Army.  I had no idea that The Salvation Army was a church but I knew they did great work helping people.

I’ve been a soldier for 15 years now.  I’ve helped with Angel Tree, Youth programs and Christmas Kettles.  I’ve also help with several disasters including Katrina and the Moore tornados.  I didn’t do a lot, just hand out food and water, but I knew it felt good and I wanted to do more.

In 2008 I entered the insurance field and in 2012 I also got my securities licenses.  I’ve helped people with a variety of needs including life, health, accident and retirement planning.  Although I have enjoyed my work I wanted to be a part of something bigger.  I was delighted when I met the guys and gals here at Insure It Forward.  They all have a servant’s heart and it’s rewarding to know that with every client I help I am also helping someone else through the charities Insure It Forwards helps support.
