Jim Scheihing of Insure It Forward Health Insurance of Oklahoma City

Guide, Agent, and Owner for Insure-It Forward;  Jim Scheihing

Agent Jim Scheihing

Hi… My name is Jim Scheihing. I am a lifelong Oklahoman – minus the 6 months I lived in Florida during my college years. I was raised in Edmond where my wife and I are raising our children.

When I am not working, I enjoy serving my church, my sons’ BSA Troop, and my daughter’s AHG Troop. I also enjoy mountain biking and traveling with my family.

I have been helping people find the right health insurance plan for them for over 20 years.

I got my start in the health insurance business in 1990 as a captive agent with Mutual of Omaha. I was 18 years old and had no idea what a captive agent was and how it affected the way I did business.

A captive agent is only allowed to work for one insurance company. I wanted to find the plan that was BEST FOR MY CLIENT, not try to talk them into buying THE ONLY PLAN I  WAS  ALLOWED TO REPRESENT!

I left Mutual of Omaha two years later. That was the best move of my career. I have been a health insurance broker since 1992 – meaning I can work for ALL of the insurance companies to find the BEST plans to suit my clients’ needs.

I work with all of the major health insurance companies in Oklahoma including Blue Cross, Delta Dental, Aetna, United Health Care, Assurant, and Community Care.

In 2010, I decided I did not want anything to do with the Affordable Care Act or ObamaCare.

I sold my agency and started Insure It Forward. But that is a story all it’s own. You may read it HERE.

In 2013, I saw what a mess the Affordable Care Act was and how many people needed help. Even with 20+ years of experience in the health insurance industry, it took me awhile to figure out the Market Place and how it worked.

I was not a fan of many of the parts of the ACA, but I really did enjoy being able to get coverage for people who had pre-existing health conditions. It was the first time in 20 years I was able to get coverage for clients whose only option until then had been group health insurance through their employer.

I remember a call from a mother whose daughter had just lost coverage on the high risk pool. I was able to get her covered even though her daughter was in the hospital. That was a good day. I didn’t even mind the 20 plus hours it took me to get her enrolled! Yes, over 20 hours because the government’s system was so messed up.

That first year was interesting but we were able to help people who didn’t have any options before then.

The Ghana Project

6,500 people die every day - 5,000 of them children - because they don't have clean drinking water!

We have a goal to donate $10,000 to our charity partners, Water4 and WaterisLife, for a joint project providing 10 pumps and a well kit for villages in Northern Ghana.

We are proud to say that as of November 1, 2013, we have donated $2500 toward that goal!
